Michael Snow (born 1929) is a Canadian artist working in painting, sculpture, video, films, photography, holography, drawing, books and music.

The film is a text in which each shot is a single word, tightly-framed white letters against a black background. Compared to Snow's recent epics ... it seems almost a throwaway but it's also the most satisfying film he's made in a decade.

Seated Figures represents a continuation of Michael Snow's project for the cinema, the exploration of the syntactical construction of filmic language through an exhaustive cataloguing of the possibilities inherent in any particular cinematic movement of device.
