Melanie Maar & Lindsay Packer – GENERATIONS

A light shines out of the darkness, a dancer moves in the light, and images light up along with the figure. Physical sources and their “digital descendants” form the backbone of a carefully crafted piece about humans and their entanglements with the ephemeral. After three decades of artistic activity in New York, choreographer Melanie Maar returns to Vienna, and she has brought back a visually intensive dance of body and light with live video feedback projections. In this collaboration with light and video artist Lindsay Packer from Brooklyn, a woman presents herself erotically and martially as a figure between youth and maturity, femininity and masculinity: in a perfectly fitting space that acts in real time as if it were a collaborator in its own right.
