On the occasion of her solo exhibition Dancing on Thin Ice, Lisl Ponger invites Khadija von Zinnenburg Carroll and Marcus Neustetter for a roundtable discussion into das weisse haus. Building on her ongoing dialogues with them, this talk will highlight some of the key issues raised in the show and ultimately reflect on the synergies between their individual research endeavors on topics of restitution, cultural heritage, and institutional power, among others. Special attention will be reserved for the two site-specific performative contributions that Khadija von Zinnenburg Carroll and Marcus Neustetter have produced in response to Lisl Ponger’s installation in the circular gallery at das weisse haus.

Khadija von Zinnenburg Carroll works on colonial histories through contemporary art. On the subject of repatriation she is the author of the books "Mit Fremden Federn: Quetzalpanecoatl, ein Restitutionsfall" (Mandelbaum, 2021) and "The Contested Crown: Repatriation Politics between Mexico and Europe" (Chicago UP, 2021). She is Professor and Chair of Global Art at University of Birmingham and holds a PhD from Harvard University. Most recently she is the nominee for the Derek Jarman award for video art and the winner of the European Research Council Consolidator award for a five year artistic research project on repatriation.

Marcus Neustetter is interested in working across disciplines at the intersection of art and activism. Neustetter values process, experimentation, collaboration and dialogue with co-producers and audience as an essential part of his practice. His practice-led investigations across diverse social and economic contexts explore his personal shifts between Africa and Europe. In partnership with Stephen Hobbs he has been the co-director of a contemporary art production team The Trinity Session since 2000 in South Africa. Neustetter currently lives and works in Vienna.
