Postmodern dance as we know it partly owes its existence to the brilliant US American composer, artist and mushroom specialist John Cage. And without the highly influential French artist Jérôme Bel, conceptual choreography, with its postmodern foundations, which added a new dimension to dance in the 1990s, might never have been conceived. So when Bel reads Cage, even more so his famous Lecture on Nothing, (and for the first time in English!), that makes for a very special event. The lecture is actually a composition. First performed exactly 70 years ago, it is one of the most important texts in experimental literature.
