“Decaying Tail of a Sound” is a day-long program conceived by Ashley Holmes as part of das weisse haus’ annual program 2022. Ashley Holmes is a Sheffield-based artist whose multidisciplinary practice combines sound, moving image, performance, installation, radio broadcasts and ongoing collaborative projects.

Building on Ashley Holmes’ artistic engagement with sound and space, “Decaying Tail of a Sound” looks into the role of the echo as well as the lack thereof in (dis-)orientating listeners in a given space. Highlighting the sonic spatiality of sound and music, the program brings together UK-based and Vienna-based artists whose experimental sound and performance-based practices explore notions of the temporality, embodiment and conceptions of place.

The program starts with a free open deck listening session in the afternoon followed by a set of four performances and an afterparty. Soup and bread are provided free of charge for everyone joining the open deck session.

You are warmly invited to bring your own records or digital tracks to the open deck session and to share your thoughts around it with other participants.
