Be devoured, millions! For centuries, Europe embraced the world – a colonial incorporation that was anything but an “Ode to Joy”. This is why Belgian choreographer Michiel Vandevelde together with the brilliant dancer and writer Bryana Fritz turns not to Friedrich Schiller but to Brazilian writer Oswald de Andrade, author of the Anthropophagic Manifesto from 1928. Andrade equated European colonialism with cannibalism. With this in mind, Vandevelde reversed European anthropophagy and launched a performative invasion of Western culture: its culminative conclusion is the gloomily dazzling, fragmented and stirring dance solo "Andrade".
