Vienna Humanities Festival

The third Vienna Humanities Festival will once again take the form of an urban salon, bringing together leading figures in the academy, art, and culture. They will address the big questions of our time in over 40 events, about half of them in English, and held for the most part on Karlsplatz.

This year’s festival theme is “Power and Powerlessness”. We address the current crisis of democracy, interrogate the rise of fundamentalist and radical forces, and search for possible alternatives. In the context of the 100th anniversary of the creation of the Republic of Austria, there is also a focus on its history.
