A major theme which has repeatedly shaped Austria’s history is war. The impressive Museum of Military History is the leading museum of the Austrian Armed Forces. It documents the history of Austrian military affairs through a wide range of exhibits comprising a wide variety of weapons and other artefacts which enable us to better understand Austria’s past.

After exploring with you the evolution of warfare and the Viennese wars during the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, we fast forward to the 20th century’s two major wars- World War I and World War II. Join our military expert Wolfgang as he takes you on a journey back to arguably Europe’s darkest time. You will learn about the two world wars and the interwar period in Vienna which was bloody as well. The tour will also cover Austria’s navy.

As every first Sunday of the month the museums are for free, the tour costs only 15 euros for the guided tour. The tour will start at 10:00 right near the front desk. The duration of the tour is approximately 2 hours.
