Opening of Austrian Museum of History

On November 10, 2018, we invite you to visit the museum from 11:00. The ceremony will be broadcast live on Heroes' Square!
We are particularly pleased about Eric Kandel who will hold the ceremonial opening speech.

At 13:00 clock the opening party starts with a diverse program, among others. with Ernst Molden & Sibylle Kefer, Marina & the Kats, Thomas Maurer, Harri Stojka, Klezmer reloaded, Kreisky and a pop museum with Wolfgang Kos.

The Haus der Geschichte Österreich can be visited free of charge on the extended opening weekend:

The House of Austrian History is the republic’s first museum of contemporary history. Presented in a modern and insightful way, the new museum invites visitors to the Hofburg to examine and discuss Austria’s history. Starting with the founding of the democratic republic in 1918, the exhibition focuses on social change and political fault lines. While the questions it asks are aimed at the past, they remain relevant to the present as well.

Conceived as a discussion forum for Austria as a whole, the museum opens up new perspectives on the country’s past and present – with an eye to the future. It also offers a wide range of educational services and an innovative web platform.
