For the exhibition "Stinking Dawn“ Liam Gillick and Gelitin are turning the Kunsthalle Wien into a massive walk-in movie set. The film will be partly shot as a public performance starting with the opening on the 4th of July. Shooting will continue until the 13th of July, with numerous possibilities for audience participation.
"Stinking Dawn" is an exhibition in the form of a production process for a full-length feature film by Gelatin and Liam Gillick. It is a collaboratively developed and improvised experimental film, which explores the limits of human tolerance in the face of oppression, political crisis and excessive self-deception. Shot in situ and partly as a public performance during the first ten days, the film will be edited during the remaining time of the exhibition while the eclectic modular stage continues to be on view, together with a succession of sequences reflecting the process-based quality of the film.
