Broken Windows

The moving image medium plays a formative and essential role in Daniel Pitín’s œuvre, even though he is considered mainly a painter. In light of the fact that each painting of his represents a frozen, originally dynamic moment of strongly cinematographic qualities either based on found film footage or being carefully staged as film scenography, such a statement seems to be obvious. And yet it requires a specific sensitivity to focus on the connecting, golden narrative thread in Pitín’s work. A talk titled after his newest video, “Broken Windows,” will guide the audience through the net of contextual relations linking Pitín’s films, paintings, architectural interventions and installations.
