In conversation with the art and cultural scientist Angelika Bartl (Berlin), the special desire of emancipation, which connects the videos presented, is at the center of common reflection. (Antonia Rahofer)

Interview techniques are used not only in a wide variety of disciplines and fields of knowledge, but also in the artistic field. In addition to art criticism and art scholars, Western artists have been using the interview as an instrument of artistic practice since the 1960s.

During two evenings and a workshop, selected appropriations for the interview in the field of video art are examined. The presented interview applications put up for discussion a productive tension between scientific demands and the potentials of fictionalisation. They raise questions about the understanding of communication, body, authenticity and power.
